About DMMA
DMMA - Define Me By My Abilities - is a disability support and special needs care organisation dedicated to helping children and adults with disabilities develop their abilities, independence, confidence and quality of life.
Our story
DMMA was founded on a simple belief: a disability is only one part of who someone is. Too often, care systems focus on what a person cannot do. We chose to focus on the opposite - on ability, potential and progress.
From our base in Westgate, Harare, our team works directly with families in their homes and communities, offering practical, compassionate support that fits real daily life - not a one-size-fits-all programme.
Every family we work with has different needs, so every plan we build looks a little different. What stays the same is our commitment to dignity, patience and genuinely getting to know the person in front of us.
Mission & vision
To help children and adults with disabilities and special needs build ability, independence, confidence and quality of life - through personalised support delivered with respect and warmth.
A community where every individual is defined by what they can achieve, and every family has the support they need to help them get there.
What guides us
We see the person before the diagnosis, and treat every individual with the respect they deserve.
Parents and caregivers are part of the team - we support them as closely as we support their loved ones.
Our staff are trained specifically in disability, special needs and behaviour support.
We celebrate every step forward, however small, and build plans that grow with each person.
